This morning I stood at the back door beside my oldest kiddo, bird watching. We spent months with no birds, and as a bird lover that made me so sad. Today there wasn’t one, but eight blue jays flying and landing
I shared with you last month how I’ve been using my Illustrated Faith Praise Book to keep my sermon notes. I’ll admit that yesterday I pulled three bent up pages out of my purse and used all the tricks to flatten
Bekah you bless me so much girl!!! I miss you but love that I can still hear from you here & on IG. This has been so true in my life as well. Being God’s people and living as “the church” means that you will get messy and it usually comes at what we think to be an inconvenient time…but God. In His sovereignty, He knows exactly what they need. When we put aside our busyness and our own problems to meet others in the place of theirs, God shows up. Every. Time! Thank you for this encouragement to keep on being ‘the church’ to those around us. <3
Since becoming a teacher I have had to learn to be patient with the ‘inconveniences’ that students create… I have become more patient with them… Recently I was taking a van full of kids out and one of them had forgotten their workbook. This delayed us about 10 – 15 minutes. I rolled my eyes and said “oh well”. Then once we were back on the road we came across a car accident due to black ice. Instead of being involved in this accident which we would have been if we hadn’t been delayed… We were able to help. That made me realize to NEVER doubt God’s inconveniences or delays… You never know the difference it will make in yours or someone else life. Amen to what you shared Bekah. I just wanted to share this with you & others as what you said reminded me of it.
When life throws me an extra dose of crazy, I find myself in the Psalms. A lot. They read like songs, so lyrically sweet and timely. The last few weeks have been pretty eventful, and I’m grasping at thanks. I
We are on the hunt for a church home after recently moving across the country. It’s been such a crazy time for our family, so full of crossroads and decisions. We are fairly certain we’ve landed on the place the
I’m finishing out summer soaking in all the bright colors I can manage. There is something about the shades of summer that keep my heart happy, even through the dreariness of winter. As you can imagine, Meg’s
Listening to worship music while I paint is my favorite. Sometimes the lyrics resonate so deeply that I feel the need to plaster them all over my life in the form of journaling, and canvases, and post its.
“Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord.
In a house full of boys, I have learned a thing or two about appreciating epic trilogies when they make it to film. We know how to binge watch with the best of them. I am especially stoked when God is woven into
As soon as I received the Yes & Amen devotional kit in the mail this week, I tore into it and dove right in. I don’t know if it’s the abstract florals, or the vintage type, or Junelle’s love of sheep that sucked
I love this and I love the transparency in your sharing. It’s crazy, I’ve been singing ‘Ever Be’ the last two days can’take get it out of my head and then I happened upon this blog. Great song to start every day with! Praying all goes well during your transition!
Recently I’ve had the opportunity to flip through my Bible and really soak in the massivity of the work the Holy Spirit has been doing in my heart through Bible journaling. I go through seasons, as we all do, and
I went on a lot of mission trips when I was younger. There’s something incredibly special about leaving the comforts of your own life and focusing on a culture that isn’t as consumed with excess. One of my most
Last week I was asked to speak in our midweek highschool service. Teenagers are my favorite audience, and also the one that causes me the most grief. Standing in front of a large group of teens can be intimidating
I particularly like the artwork for this. So often this verse is illustrated with a butterfly. Personally I struggle with butterflies! LOL. I love this broken/repaired vessel. This is me all over. Beautiful message, beautifully illustrated. Thank you for sharing. x
You’d have to twist my arm to get me to choose a favorite person in the Bible. There are just too many folks woven into those pages and in turn woven into my heart as lasting reminders of God’s faithfulness. But
Yes, this has been the yearning of my heart, too. For so very long I have been trying to do it on my own strength which is not only ridiculous but impossible! I am finally learning to ask for His strength to overcome my weakness in compassion for others and, oddly enough (lol), He has shown up EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Thank you, God!!
Sometimes my journaling starts with a devotional or a song. Sometimes I’m inspired by a sermon or a book. And sometimes, something simply jumps out of my daily reading and the Holy Spirit downloads super cool
Have you been enjoying the Beautiful monthly devo kit?? I will make an embarrassing confession. I didn’t really know if I’d be that “into” it. I have known the Lord for a long time, for over 30 years actually. I’d
“Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness. Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him and He will
Well,I’m only seeing your ps 37 post 7 months late, but I just had to share that ps. 37:3-5 is/are my life verse/s and march 2nd is my birthday (when the blog was posted). So it retro, God gave me a special gift for my birthday. His timing is perfect :)
Sometimes when I’m doing my regular Bible reading, something jumps out at me in a sort of unconventional way and demands to be journaled. It’s in those moments that I know the Holy Spirit is totally whispering
Some one once said “we have translated the Bible into many languages but never to a creative one” and that is exactly what Illustrated Faith is striving to do; provide a place to see the bible through a creative mind.
