Stephanie Buice is sharing her mixed media art journal inspired by the song Love On The Line and walks us through her process for it

Hi everyone! I’m so happy to be here today to share this entry from my song journal. I have had this song (Love On The Line, by Hillsong Worship) on repeat for a while now so I thought it would be very fitting to make it my next page.  When I sat down to journal it I pretty much wanted to write out the whole song, the lyrics are so moving to me! I finally decided to make my favorite verses the main attraction here. “Mercy roars like hurricane winds, furious love laid waste to my sins.” Talk about powerful! I hear that in my head all the time, and I love how it’s such a powerful reminder.

Let me walk you around my page for a few pictures, that way you can get a feel of how I start things out. My first step is usually my background, here I used some acrylics, but lots of the time I just reach for whatever is closest and just mix away. Once that is all dry I like to add in some stamps to layer things up a bit.

Here is a little close up so you can see my background a little better. All kinds of paints mixed in and I love the texture I get from this card stock.

After my background is done I add in my stickers and embellishments, I couldn’t wait to open up my Paper Pieces Die-Cuts and put them on this page, the colors are beautiful!! Once I decided on where everything would go, I glued them down and added in the rest of my journaling.

The journaling reads more from the song, The white speech bubble says “You put your love on the line, to bear the weight of sin that was mine”, and the pink lined card reads “Washing my river of wrongs, into the sea of your infinite love.” The yellow speech bubble has the song and who it’s by.

Since I feel like God was really placing this song on my heart, it was so important to me to get it down on paper. For me it reminds me of who I am and just how important and how much God really loves me. I can almost feel the strength of it in these words “Mercy roars like hurricane winds”, wow, I almost can’t fathom that! But at the same time it feels like He is always there fighting, forgiving and a strength for me. “Furious love laid waste to my sin”, I get a lump in my throat when I read that, only His love is strong enough to die for us so we could be forgiven. Because of His furious love I am free!

I’m sure I’m not explaining that as deeply as I feel it, but I encourage  you to go give that song a listen. I promise you’ll feel the words more than you hear them, I love when that happens! I hope you’ve enjoyed my entry, this one was so much fun to make! Have a great day everyone!
