A note from Shanna: Hiya friend, thank you so much for joining us for our summer camp this year. The idea of summer camp began several years ago as a way to slow down and sit in wonder at what God is leading us toward. Earlier this year, when I was talking with Amberleigh, this idea of grace + glow came out of what God was teaching her, and my heart lit up. Grace is one of those words I think I used for years before I ever stopped to consider the cost of it, the kindness of it! This summer, we get to walk through the field notes of a sister in Christ together. I feel like we are all walking alongside Amberleigh, peeking over her shoulder as she notices where God is moving, where He is refining, and where His goodness is showing up in both the beautiful moments and the hard ones. I keep finding that grace is showing up in places I least expect it, and honestly, I love how God continues to surprise me in that way. That is my hope for this summer together.

A note from Amberleigh:  Once we receive it, grace begins to change us. Sometimes those changes are dramatic. Often they are quiet and gradual. But over time, we begin to notice that something inside us is different. Our hearts soften. Our perspective shifts. Our lives begin to reflect the presence of Christ in ways we may not have even realized at first. Today, it still amazes me that the same God who rescued me now allows me to share about His goodness with others. That is the story we’re stepping into together.

A note from Shanna: Hiya friend, welcome back! Last month, we spent some time noticing grace and all the beautiful things it teaches us about the character of Jesus. We stood in awe and paused to notice the way He met us right in the middle of our ordinary lives and gently changed us over time. This month is all about that glow! One thing to keep in mind this month is that the glow doesn’t come from you; it is a reflection of Jesus, and for me, that is a huge relief! Knowing that it isn’t my job to manufacture the glow because the work has already been done, I simply need to share it. How beautiful is that? I am sure all of us can relate to the idea of thinking we need to be perfect and shiny to share that glow, but the older I get, and the longer I walk with Jesus, the more I realize He will meet us right where we are. All we need to do is walk in obedience and share His love; ← that is the glow! There is something I want you to know before you turn the page. That final section of Glowing in the Valley almost didn’t happen. It came together at the last minute (thank you, Kristina and Amberleigh), and if I am being completely honest, I am so proud of Amberleigh for the way she showed up in the middle of a valley to remind us what it looks like to still glow there! I am deeply thankful for her heart and for how she always points people back to Jesus, even in the hard places. I want to encourage you to move through these field notes slowly and intentionally this month! Let yourself notice what God might be stirring in your own heart along the way.

A note from Amberleigh: The glow is the steady evidence of a life that is being shaped by Jesus. Jesus once told His followers, “You are the light of the world” (Matthew 5:14). He did not say, “Try to become the light.”He said “you are the light.”When the grace of God takes root in our lives, His presence begins to shine through the way we live, love, and respond to the world around us. Often, we think sharing our faith has to look big and dramatic. But it doesn’t. Most of the time, it looks like showing up in everyday moments with the peace and love that Jesus has placed inside of us. The beautiful thing is that every believer reflects that light a little differently. Over the next few weeks, we are going to explore what it looks like for grace to become visible in the way we live. Just ordinary faith lived with open hands and a willing heart.
