Experiencing God: Trust

One of the most important aspects of any relationship is trust. This is also one of the hardest, because all of our relationships besides God are with humans. Humans are fallible and imperfect, filled with contradictions and feelings. The constancy of Yahweh is probably the biggest difference between a friendship with Him and our earthly human relationships. He simply cannot let us down. It is not in His character to do so. 

Look up to a high place where you live. Chances are, those mountaintops or hillsides are covered in snow, or brown and dry, for part of the year. Even in barren climates, there is a cycle to seasons. During hard, cold, dry times, those hillsides seem barren. But under the layer of snow or dust, seeds lie in wait. We cannot see them or touch them, but we know they are there. And when the season changes, the wildflowers of summer arrive. Or the grass grows tall. Or the water flows where it was dry. This cycle, which is lived out in a myriad of ways in the created world, points directly to the Creator. God was there. He is here. And He will be present. This constant presence, even when it is unseen or unfelt by our human-ness, is a firm building block for trust. No other relationship can offer this. The Lord is trustworthy because He is always present. 

Look to the summer wildflowers and remember our ever-present, trustworthy God. Confidence and comfort will be yours.
