mixed media art journaling Bible entry by Abigail Clone | Teen Topic: Feeling Small

To encourage the younger members of the Journaling Bible community, each month we will be taking a peek inside the Bible of Abigail Clone!  Abigail is an energetic, artistic, & faithful 15-year-old sweetie that loves illustrating her faith & sharing the Word with others! She will be sharing projects created around common struggles that teens encounter at school & in their daily lives. With this, we hope to encourage young girls (& boys!) to get into their Bibles & share the lessons from the Word with their friends & family while expressing themselves artistically!

There are so many times in our lives that we start to feel small. It could be in our faith, a new job, or even a new school. (Now, I feel like I’m always talking about school circumstances but the truth is for teenagers, that’s where we need our faith the most. Our life sometimes gets so caught up in school & we just need God! ;) ) AnywayI can relate a little bit to a new school. I have never actually had to move to a whole new state & go to school with ALL new friends, but I talked to my friend about it.

He moved all the way from Washington to good ole Indiana & had to meet all new people. He said that it’s so hard & you are mad because you don’t want to be there. I can’t even imagine & I admire anyone who has to go through that! Even with new grades come new schools & that can be hard too. We go into it as the “babies” of the school. (Especially in high school! Everyone thinks of Freshman as the babies.) You walk through the halls with all those older kids or all those new people that you don’t even know or walk into a new job with having to learn EVERYTHING. You feel so small & invisible. You feel like you need to “blend” in with the crowd to show that you are tall! But guess what! A little birdie in 1 Peter 2:9 told me:

“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.”

God made you to be you & He wants you to shine his light by being you! I decided on my page to not show how feeling small feels but rather what standing TALL feels like! I just doodled a giraffe because UMMM ADORBS & also a little mouse next to him to show the difference! I used some finger painting to make the clouds in the back, added some letter stickers, washi tape, & the new Hexie stickers that I’m seriously in LOVE with! The last things I did were use my Faber-Castell markers to make some dots & highlight my verse, journal, & added a tab! This was a quick little entry & I’m really happy with how it turned out. It’s a great reminder to BE YOU & stand tall; don’t feel small! The next time that you feel small, remember: God wants you to be the giraffe of the crowdnot the mouse…& stand tall with HIM!

This is the cutest entry!! I love your take on this topic. How awesome that you have such a strong faith in God at 15! (I have a 15 year old daughter, too! ;) ) And you write very well! Hope to see more of your work in the future! :)
