A daily devotional is something that I have done for the past two years and I absolutely love it.  Last year I received “Jesus Calling” by Sarah Young as a Christmas gift.  This book sparked a fire in my heart for Jesus that had been cooling down for awhile. Don’t get me wrong, I loved Jesus so much still but I just wasn’t feeling that constant passion and need for Him like I had been.  When I started this book, it spoke to me.  Each morning, I was starting my day with a personal love letter from my Savior and each day I felt as though it was exactly what I had needed to hear that day.  I remember one specific instance where I was feeling anxious about a flight one morning and the devotional that day was all about trusting Jesus in the times where we are feeling anxious about things that are out of our control.  You guys, it was like that, almost every.single.day.  God is cool like that.  Each day I would go back and read my devotional multiple times.   I loved the devotional so much that I decided to re-do it again this year as well.

When I first started Bible Journaling, I had the same question that I am sure many of you did as well, “Where do I start?!” It dawned on me, that this devotional could go hand in hand with what God was showing me through Illustrated Faith!

I challenged myself to Illustrate at least one page in my Bible, everyday, during the Lenten Season.  I thought 40 days of getting into the word, creating in the Word, and using the lessons I was learning in my daily devotionals would be a great way for me to jump start my new journey in Bible journaling.

I have loved spending my mornings with Jesus, praying, getting into the Word, illustrating my faith and waiting in expectation for what He has in store for me.  I would love to hear what devotionals you all are using in your lives and if you incorporate them into you Bible journaling as well. Leave me a comment below so I can check them out!!
