Worrying is kind of my thing. Some people bake, some people run, I worry. I’m not proud of it, I don’t like it, it’s not healthy, but it’s what I do. The worst thing about it is that whenever I’m worrying, there’s often NOTHING I can do about it. There’s nothing I can do to change the results; it’s just that I’m waiting for answers. Things are pending & I don’t deal well with that.

Recently I had a 2 week span of time waiting for something & all I could do was worry. It was torture. Every single night when I would lie down to bed, I had a stomach ache & it would wake me up in the night. After a period of 4 or 5 days, I had a feeling of peace wash over me randomly. What could I do to affect the outcome? Nothing. His plan was already written. When I laid down that night, no stomach ache. I closed my eyes & specifically prayed to God that I knew His plan was best. Four words are all you need to convey that to Him: “Thy will be done.” I also prayed for good results for my situation, but that I knew only His plan is perfect. That I had faith & confidence in Him as my Lord.

It’s more than confidence though, right? It’s full surrender & deep faith in my Father. This printable piece from Brianna Showalter’s It Is Well set completely encapsulated my feelings: “Confidence in the Lord gives my soul the freedom to rest in Him.” Those words so perfectly summed up my 2 weeks of waiting & worrying.

After I addressed my confidence in the Lord, I was LITERALLY able to rest & sleep through the night with no pain. Remarkable. He is so good! Regardless of the results or outcome of those two weeks, I got a greater gift from that experience: rest.
