Happy Monday, friend! Today I’m continuing to journal my way through Revival Camp-yay! But instead of sharing an entry in my traveler’s notebook I’m going to use the new Illustrating Bible. Those huge margins are calling my name so I hope you’re ok with that ;)
In Deuteronomy 31:6 God is speaking to the Israelites through Moses and tells them,
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” (NIV)
The word nerd in me wanted to know what that word courageous means. God is basically telling the Israelites to have a strong and undaunted mind. Be courageously resolute in the face of danger. I don’t know about you but that is not my default reaction to difficulties. God reminds them that He will be with them. This courage isn’t bred from their (or our) own heart. It comes from Him.
Having all this space in the bible margin afforded me the opportunity to use a couple larger Print & Pray Shop elements along with my journaling. Kelly’s pennant from her Team Jesus set inspired the direction for this page in Psalm 18:2.
“The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.” (NIV)
The Rock (God) provides for our needs. Just like He did for the Israelites in the wilderness when He brought forth water from the rock (Deut. 8:15). He is strong. Rocks were used to build walls, fortresses and towers. He is solid, like a rock. His nature does not change. His goodness then is the same as His goodness now. He is the only absolute.
My prayer for you today is that no matter what difficulty you face, you would cling to the Rock. Find refuge and courage in Him.
