Bloom In Prayer and Love

I fell head over heels for the sticker the instant I saw it. With pretty florals and handwritten text, it said quite beautifully:

She blooms through prayer and love. 

How true –and beautiful?!– is that?

What I love about the word “bloom” is that it make me think of a flower in progress. If it is blooming it is in the process of opening up, its full potential mere moments or minutes away. But flowers will only bloom if watered and give plenty of sunlight.

That is what prayer and love are in the Christian walk.

The garden of your heart is ripe, ready, and waiting to bloom, and it is important that we water it with prayer (and scripture) daily. If we go too long without it, we end up parched and dehydrated, wilting and wanting for something so essential, so sweet, so life-giving.

Love floods our hearts and lives with sunlight, beaming into all the dark corners as God reveals more of Himself and His nature to us as we are loved and we love others. Sunlight is essential as love is a key to knowing Him and being fueled to move forward.

Our love for others and our love for the Lord can often lead us into prayer, and I believe the two are closely linked. I want so desperately to bloom in my faith, to grow nearer to the Lord, and to fill the potential He has placed in me, but I  know I can only do that by steeping myself in prayer and love.

She blooms through prayer and love.

Let’s allow water and sunshine, prayer and love, to flood our lives this week, friends. You won’t regret it.
