Hello Crafty Friends!

I am so excited to show you something a bit different today! I tend to bounce around between my Bible and my Praise Book and my Personal Album to illustrate my faith. Part of the reason is because my faith spreads through all the facets of my life, it’s not just localized to my bible. I love that I am not confined to just the margins of my bible so I like to spread out and freely create in several of my crafty places.

When I began reading through the Yes & Amen devotional I was inspired to document a recent photo I took of my son, Marshall. He is 8 and just full of joy and passion and really just WILD for the things he loves. So I decided to do a full page scrapbook layout that was like a little message to him.

I gathered cut aparts, stamps and stamp pads within the color scheme and with the words and phrases that told my story.

The inspiration behind this page is that I want my son to become more comfortable saying YES! He struggles with fear and anxiety that prevents him from enjoying things that you or I would find completely normal. So I wanted to give him a little cheer by letting him know that Jesus can lead him. Let Jesus be in control so you can let go of that hesitation and GO OUT IN JOY!

When I face an obstacle with him, I ask God to give me all the right words so I can help him say Yes & Amen. But part of that is trying to help him find it within himself and asking God to help him make that leap. My goodness, parenting is hard!

Another sentiment that I would love to communicate to him is to rest in the Lord. He is majorly stubborn so this is a difficult task but he’s only 8 so I have a lot of time to help him. I get so nervous and excited that I have been giving the ability and responsibility to mold and shape a little person. And then my fears set in about if I’m doing a good job! We are all certainly doing the best we can!

My hope is that you can rest in Him when things get tough or that you can help others feel comfortable leaning on God. I also would love to know if you are also illustrating your faith in multiple places! Go for it – remember that there are no rules here – and go out in JOY!!

I love the messy outlines over the stamps that you did. It’s not my style either but it looks so cool! I need to try it some time.
