Recently, I’ve been thinking a lot about consistency. Consistency meaning doing a small step every day, not like the consistency of cake frosting (also important, though). Sort of like that old saying about the journey of a thousand miles. My husband and I were walking around the mall the other day and we started talking about all the things that make up a day that take up our time. We decided we should take a closer look and maybe get rid of some time wasters. Maybe a few phone apps, that sort of thing. But also the big things. If we’re going somewhere every day, do we like where that path is taking us?
I’m aiming my focus at the time I spend in spiritual disciplines. This week I skipped TV time to work in some bible study. I never regret the time I spend with Jesus.
Sometimes when I sit down in my crafty space to bible journal, I realize I’m in a hurry and my anxiety level is up. I’ve missed the simple fact that spending sweet time with Jesus is a joy and I can approach with a heart of worship (even if I only have a few minutes before work). When I notice I’m doing that I have to stop and talk to God about it. I’m there to meet with Him after all!
I love these verses in Philippians 4, starting in verse 6, “Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”
Today I’m using this new set by Kelly Bangs, and I set up the page like a little living space because it reminds me to sit and meet with Jesus. To stop the phone scrolling and take time to seek God. To talk with Him and enter into this peace. He’s at the door knocking, will I invite Him in to come stay a while?
Thanks for joining me here today, friends!
