40 Days With Jesus – Days 1 & 2

I’m so excited about spending 40 days with Jesus for this lent season using the Naptime Diaries Lent devotional. I’ve been really enjoying waking up in the morning to read and meditate on the scripture and then in the evenings going back through my notes and the passage and illustrating my faith in my Bible.

Hebrews 3:1-6

The part that I really wanted to take from this passage was that the author made a point to tell us to “fix our thoughts on Jesus”. When we fix our thoughts on Jesus, everything else comes into play for being a part of God’s house. It also helps us to “hold firmly to our confidence and the hope in which we glory.” I pray that I will do this no just during the 40 days in this devotional but always… first thing in the morning, all day, and all night.

Matthew 4:1-11

Jesus’ temptation is such a sweet part of the gospel. I love how Jesus brings the Old Testament into the New Testament to show that we need both. I struggle so much with temptations on a daily, hourly basis, and I really wanted to illustrate the last Old Testament quote Jesus said to Satan… “You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve!” which comes from Deuteronomy 6:13.

Are you spending time with Jesus during this Lent season? I’ve never been one to give up something for Lent, but I really love focusing this season on spending more time with Jesus. I pray that we all grow closer to Jesus during this season as we prepare to celebrate his death and resurrection.
