Bible Journaling Tutorial by April Crosier aka Marine Parents | Praying in a Revival | Faux Stained-Glass Margin | Psalm 85:6

Happy Revival Camp month, everyone! I don’t know about y’all, but I look forward to this specific series of devotions from Illustrated Faith soooo much each year! It comes at exactly the time when I need it most — and for me that’s close to the end of summer when all the kids have been home for weeksonweeksonweeks and mama needs a reboot.  Can I get an amen?

As I sat down to dig in to my first kit of Revival Camp for the year, I wanted to set a base line for myself.  I set up my devotional traveler’s notebook [you can catch the Facebook Live replay HERE] but also wanted to bring as much from this series into my margins as possible.  I googled “verse about reviving us” — it’s totally fine to not have all 31,102 verses memorized in the bible, friend — and opened up to begin my Revival Camp journey in Psalm 85:6.

As I began meditating on the verse & praying that God would be incredibly present in this devotional adventure with me, I pulled out #allthepaints and a package of baby wipes to create a gorgeous background in my bible margin!

PS — I used acrylic paints for this specific page…. whatever colors you have on hand will be perfect to use!

I started pulling pigment straight from the paint pots by dipping a small section of baby wipe directly inside & smearing small sections haphazardly on my page.  Once I was out of spreadable paint on my wipe, I grabbed another color & continued on until I had my page completely covered in beautiful painty goodness!

At this point I hit my stained glass looking bible margin with an air dryer to get it all nice & dry so I could start journaling.  I also smeared just a little bit of egg colored acrylic paint very thinly on top of a few areas to give it a more rustic/campy feel.  The best part about painting with something like baby wipes — NO CLEAN UP!

Next, I wanted to create a visual piece for my page.  I grabbed my Revival Camp sticker from the kit & adhered it down on some fun black & white paper from the Faith>Fear Collection.  I trimmed out just a small outline and then cozied it up with a cute little shipping tag [from my trail mix collection in the devo kit!] and a tab to mark what year of Revival Camp I was working on.

Next, I penned down a little bit of what had been running through my heart + mind during my prayer sesh while I painted the margin on this page.  After a little date stamping & a few enamel heart additions, I feel like I am now ready to dive in deep with my Revival Camp devotional content!!!

Catch you campers later! xo
