Hey all! Happy New Year! (Since this is my first post since last year.) It’s that time of year some of you still have Christmas decor up, others are busting out the Valentine’s decor, some are diving head first into new resolutions and plans, and a few of us are looking around asking, “What now?” “What’s next?”

You know, Christmas is great, the anticipation, the whole story of Jesus entrance into the world, so many prophecies fulfilled, so much promise hanging in the air, His miracle birth is nothing short of amazing. But you know what? Though not as miraculously, every man was born but only one man died on the cross. Only one man came to save us. His arrival begs the question; “What now?” “What’s next?”

This page is inspired by my Pastor’s favorite song. He and his children sang it to us on Christmas eve and left me in anticipation of the cross. If you’ve never heard the song, take a moment to let it sink in:

About the Cross

Verse 1:
It’s not just about the manger
Where the baby lay
It’s not all about the angels
Who sang for him that day
It’s not just about the shepherds
Or the bright and shining star
It’s not all about the wisemen
Who traveled from afar

Chorus:
It’s about the cross
It’s about my sin
It’s about how Jesus came to be born once
So that we could be born again

It’s about the stone
That was rolled away
So that you and I could have real life someday

It’s about the cross
It’s about the cross

Verse 2:
It’s not just about the presents
Underneath the tree
It’s not all about the feeling
That the season brings to me

It’s not just about coming home
To be with those you love
It’s not all about the beauty
In the snow I’m dreaming of

Repeat Chorus

Bridge:
The beginning of the story is wonderful and great
But it’s the ending that can save you and that’s why we celebrate

It’s about the cross
It’s about my sin
It’s about how Jesus came to be born once
So that we could be born again

It’s about God’s Son
Nailed to a tree
It’s about every drop of blood that flowed from Him when it should have been me

It’s about the stone
That was rolled away
So that you and I could have real life someday
So that you and I could have real life someday
It’s about the cross
It’s about the cross
It’s about the cross

The beautiful thing about the cross is that it is for everyday. Christmas, New Year’s, Valentine’s, Easter, and every day in between. He came for the cross. For you and me. For everyday. So “What now?” “What’s next” Look to the cross.

Lord, thank you for coming to earth for me, to bear the cross, to save me from my sin, to give me real life. Amen

Me again. Seriously, I’m in love.. Would you consider doing a tutorial, video or otherwise? I’m trying to work it out in a notebook but I’m struggling a bit. Thanks!
