Monday, Monday! A new week, a new day, another session in the #GOALS devotional kit from DaySpring-who’s ready to jump in?
I love the acronym for “grace” shared in today’s devotional card-God’s Riches At Christ’s Expense. Shanna says, “because of Jesus we undeservedly receive a ton of good things from God”. And as I started reading the verses for this session in 2 Thessalonians chapter 2 I wanted to slow down and soak in each word. Especially in verse 16 when its says,
“…God our Father, who loved us and by His grace gave us eternal comfort and a wonderful hope,…”
In my quiet time journal I lingered on each word between those commas. God loves us, even knowing all the yucky stuff about us. By His grace (unmerited favor) gave (incredibly generously) us eternal comfort (encouragement and solace) and a wonderful hope (joyful and confident expectation of eternal salvation)! There is so much goodness packed in there! And then I asked myself, in light of this incredible gift, how does this influence the way I will interact with those around me?
Much to meditate on and pray about as I put paint to page, right?! For today’s entry I thought it would be fun to experiment with Neocolor crayons again, this time mimicking the beautiful design on the session six devotional card. I am hurtling toward the end of my kit’s contents making sure to use all the beautiful bits instead of hoard them, which led me to pulling out some tools from my stash to stretch things a bit more.
As I wrapped up my journaling bible entry for today I was reminded of a quote I read in Max Lucado’s book titled Grace. He says, “the grace-given give grace”. Are there people you need to show grace to?
