Hello, Word Nerds! What better way to Monday than with a brand new devotional kit?! The latest kit is called Word Nerd and is filled with wonderful tools to geek out in God’s word.
Included in the kit is a traveler’s notebook insert with space to study ten words found in scripture. Never done a word study before? No problem! There are prompts to walk you through each step in the process!
The best part? YOU get to choose which words to study! Perhaps when you study a book of the Bible consider noting which words or phrases the author repeats to their listener. For instance, as I study James’ letter I might consider doing a word study of “steadfast” or “wisdom”.
There are also words used in the Bible that we don’t employ in everyday conversation, like “righteous”. Or maybe we have only an idea of what a word means. But when we study these words we learn of all it encompasses and understand its depth and richness.
For this page in Deuteronomy I recorded notes from a study of the word faithfulness, as it relates to God keeping His covenants. This is the focus passage in which it appears.
“Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations, and repays to their face those who hate him, by destroying them. He will not be slack with one who hates him. He will repay him to his face. You shall therefore be careful to do the commandment and the statutes and the rules that I command you today.
‘And because you listen to these rules and keep and do them, the Lord your God will keep with you the covenant and the steadfast love that he swore to your fathers.” Deuteronomy 7:9-12 (ESV)
I typed a partial definition on the label included in the kit and used the stamp set to celebrate God’s persistent lovingkindness.
I am SO excited to walk through this kit with my fellow word nerds! Will you join us?!
