Print and Pray Bible Journaling Process Video by Jillian aka Hello Jillsky | Wait Out the Wilderness | Ephesians 3:12-13

Happy Monday, everyone! Today I’m sharing a Print & Pray Shop Bible journaling process video featuring Shawna Clingerman’s new collection, Wait Out the Wilderness. If today’s project had a theme it would be “free in Christ” (all the praise hands!) Then subtitled “how to change course when an idea for a Bible journaling page doesn’t work as planned”.

When I saw Shawna’s patterned papers I knew I wanted to feature them on my page. Perhaps I could create a paper mosaic with hand-cut diamonds nestled on top of a soft, color coordinated background? I set out to achieve this look and it did not go well. I want to pause here and remind you (and me) that when Bible journaling, perfection is not the goal. Time in God’s word with hearts open to the Spirit’s leading and transformation is always the focus. Any page that documents Spirit-filled moments will be beautiful <3

Once I realized that the original idea I had planned was not coming to fruition, I took a step away and came back with white acrylic paint. White paint typically does the trick when I have a CTRL+Z  moment (that’s a keyboard shortcut for undo :)

I applied some white acrylic paint to my page and used my heat tool to help it dry. Then I went back over with a very wet baby wipe and neocolor crayons. Adding the water to the wipe with the crayons really toned down the pigment (the original reason I didn’t like it). I very carefully dried that and layered additional pieces from Shawna’s collection, and some vellum.

When I set out the create the page I wasn’t sure where to journal. I looked to the references she and the artists include with their sets and landed on Ephesians 3:12,

In him [Christ] and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence.

Thank You, Lord!

I topped off my page with a tab, a couple notes typed out on vellum and black watercolor splatters- always a good idea! I hope this process inspires you to think about “mistakes” differently and provides a practical way to help you should you have a CTRL+Z moment :)
