There’s not much that I love more than working in my Journaling Bible. I love making it meaningful with words and images and color, but I’m one who doesn’t really want to get the pages of my Bible wet – it’s all good – it’s just my preference. I’ve found that adding overlays into my Bible are a great way to add color!

I thought I’d share a few of my recent pages that I hope will inspire you to try this technique too. Last week I was reading about the crucifixion of Jesus in John and couldn’t stop thinking about John 3:16 – that Jesus died because He loves me. God gave His Son for ME! If I truly understand that truth it has an impact on everything I believe and how I act and think.

I made this page where I added an overlay to my Bible made from vellum with washi tape along the left edge. Letter stickers and a flower rub on add the thought with simple impact. I’ve been going through a hard time lately with a broken foot and a million things to do, and I’ve found myself thinking of this: “For God So Loved ME!” all throughout the day.

On another page I used an old gift card to paint shades of pastel acrylic paint on a piece of thin deli paper and then taped that into the Bible with washi tape. I added rub ons and some stickers to the top. It’s a great way to add paint and color without actually painting the Bible page.

I love the look of a transparency as a page in my Bible. I like that you can read what’s on the top and what’s underneath. Here I used a colorful transparency and stickers to illustrate on of my favorite verses from I Samuel 22.

I’m trying to not add too much bulk to my Bible – I’ve got so much more to do in it – so these thin overlays have been perfect for adding room for journaling and artwork and color! Look around and see what you might be able to add as a page in your Bible!

I love this! I usually paint right in my bible but I love the idea of doing an entire page without the worry of covering too much up. Thank you for the inspiration
