Gratitude Documented Step by Step Bible Journaling Tutorial layering paper pieces by Bekah Lynn – A NEW SONG – Revelation 5:9

Can you believe we are already 20 days into our project and only 10 days away from gathering all things Advent and singing Christmas songs until our heart’s content?

However, before we start turning on that Christmas music, let’s stop and think about the new song that’s been given to us the very moment Jesus took our sin upon Himself.

Revelation 5:9
And they sang a new song, saying:
“You are worthy to take the scroll
and to open its seals,
because you were slain,
and with your blood you purchased for God
persons from every tribe and language and people and nation.

The image painted in verse 6 is too beautiful to skip over, “Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing at the center of the throne…”

Friends, that is my Saviour, YOUR Saviour! Standing in His rightful place, the center of the throne, filling the gap between God and us.

The scars on His back, His nail-pierced hands, the wound on His side, it’s all there, His love for us on full display.

How could you not fall down and worship with all that’s inside of you?!

Imagine the song that would swell inside your soul at the sight of the Lamb standing in the gap for us.

I imagine my song sounds much like “Come Thou Fount”…

Oh, that day when freed from sinning
I shall see Thy lovely face
Clothed then in the blood washed linen
How I’ll sing Thy wondrous grace.

Oh, to grace how great a debtor
Daily I’m constrained to be
Let that goodness like a fetter
Bind my wandering heart to Thee
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it
Prone to leave the God I love
Here’s my heart, oh, take and seal it
Seal it for Thy courts above

Let’s Create!

For this page, I was inspired by a black and white polka dot paper I have on my desk. I thought about creating a tip-in and journaling on top of the paper but I didn’t like how bulky that became, so I decided to recreate the background myself!

I used the pom-pom from Taylor’s One Another’s stamp set for my polka dots and then I swiped over with white paint to tone down the black just a bit. I also wanted to add some pink, so I very lightly went over the white and in between some of the polka dots with the pink paint for an extra layer.

Paper layers!

I LOVE paper layers! It’s such a fun way to add color and texture. I have used all but ONE leaf from the gratitude documented kit, so I traced out some more leaves on coordinating paper. I also stamped out a large floral and my title.

Then I layered everything on the page just see where I wanted it and if I needed more leaves. I deiced to stick with a pink and purple theme and ditched the orange leaves. For an extra touch of dimension, I used puffy double-sided stickers for my letters and layered those on top of my florals and leaves!Gratitude Documented Step by Step Bible Journaling Tutorial layering paper pieces by Bekah Lynn – A NEW SONG – Revelation 5:9

Finishing Touches!

You know my page isn’t finished without some string tucked away somewhere and a messy date stamp! I also added the number for this entry and a wax seal that reminded me of the verse we journaled!
