Is it November yet?! I don’t know about you, but I am excited for Gratitude Documented! Today I am going to share how I created foundation pages for Gratitude Documented in my pocket notebook. I’ve also got a process video for ya today! In that video I’ll share how I’ve done Gratitude Documented in the past and my plans for this year!

One of the most fun things about this project is that there are so many different ways to participate! You could document in your journaling bible, mini album, traveler’s notebook, planner- there are so. many. options. This year I chose to work in a pocket size notebook. I think the smaller format will be a good fit for the season of life I’m in. Another thing to consider about a daily project is how to set yourself up for success. (Success for me is being in the Word every day and at least writing my gratitude down) Knowing this, I decided to set aside a block of time to create foundation pages in my pocket notebook.

Foundation pages are just that-a foundation. During the month of November I will likely not be able to pull out my supplies, paint, etc. every day. So I set aside some time to create a base for the first five pages in my notebook. Below, I’ll walk you through how I created each one. I’ve found these to be helpful because when I am ready to document, I’ve got a jumping off point instead of a blank page staring back at me.

For my first page I layered a scrap of pattern paper (from the cover of the notebook) with the flashcard, a sticker from the kit and washi tape. I typically journal a lot for this particular prompt and decided to leave the facing page blank. I added another scrap of washi and a couple of hearts-one from the kit and one from the Heart Layers washi. Gratitude Documented is also a great stash-busting project. So get out your leftovers bits and bobs and put them to use!

I also enjoy using Print & Pray Shop pieces in my Gratitude Documented projects! Here I used a piece of patterned paper from Mandy Ford’s set Fall Away layered with the flashcard and fall-fetti from the kit. I kept another blank page for journaling, adding only this cute gal from the stamp set.

For my third page I chose to break out the paints and create a mixed media background. I added some washi, the prompt card, an acorn from the fall-fetti and stamps. Easy-peasy! Remember, when I get to the prompt for this day I may choose to add more, this is just to get me started :)

This page is one of my favorites! I glued the fall-fetti paper pieces as a background element and layered patterned paper and a glassine bag under the flash card on top of them. See? Super simple!

I dug through the trash once more and picked out this itty bitty glassine bag to use as a place to tuck a journaling card. Then I layered a Print & Pray printable with the silhouette sticker and tucked a card in the bag. I wanted it to pop, so I glued a piece of patterned paper in my notebook before gluing down the bag. Finally, I wanted to pull the florals on to the other side of the spread, so I layered this floral sticker under the prompt card on the right.

So now I am all set to go for the first five days of November! Throughout the month I will probably set aside a little time every weekend to prep some pages in here. And I can’t wait to see how chunky the notebook gets as I record my gratitude each day!
