Hi friends! It’s Cristin here! For today’s blog post, I wondered if you’d like to journal with me? I thought we could go step by step and create a layout using a digital set from the Illustrated Faith Print and Pray Shop. Today, I’m using Shawna Clingerman’s June Better Together release: Wild Hearts.

I’m drawn to the black and white graphic that says “Nothing will be impossible with God.” I usually journal this particular portion of Luke around Christmastime, but that’s what I love about bible journaling. The same passage read at different times, can cause us to reflect on different things. Right now in my life, I’m coming up on a big transition period that’s going to be a bit scary and challenging, so I’m really holding onto this truth – God can handle all of this.

We can trust God with our biggest, scariest fears, and our tiny hopes and joys – we just need to trust in Him. He is good, He is righteous, and the same God who handled the whole Red Sea parting can be trusted with our worries. Maybe you need a mountain moved. He can do it. Can we trust Him? He is able!

When i start a page (after I decide what passage I’m journaling), I gather all my bits and pieces. In the photo above, I’ve got Shawna’s set all piled up ready to go. I really like to take her card pieces and add a little fabric scraps to the sides. So, that’s what I did next, since this step will create a focal point to build off of.

Using the pink adhesive runner, I added a strip of adhesive right at the edge of the card and loosely gathered the fabric along the edge so the adhesive grabbed it in the back. Adding some yarn-y bits to the cards is also fun, like this turquoise ric rac.

At this point, I decided to save the rainbow card for another page, since only one card can be the main focus. As the page builds, slowly narrow down all the elements to just a few pieces.

Next, it’s time for paint! Pink will work well, since it matches the other elements and won’t compete with the bold card.

A bible mat will keep everything tidy when painting. For this page, I wasn’t sure where the elements would all be placed, so I just randomly swiped on some paint.

And that’s it! Acrylic paint dries pretty quickly as long as it’s a thin coat, and it’s not puddling on the page.

Then, I gathered all the elements and started plopping them down. Playing with the layout is fun at this point. Once it looks good, carefully add adhesive First, though, I highlighted the focus verse.

I like this layout with the paper strip behind the card and a few elements popping up behind. I adhered all the pieces to the page, and then added another piece of washi tape on the bottom half of the page – there’s plenty of room to include journaling there, too, which I also wrote along the bottom.

All my page needed next is a date stamp so that I can look back on this page and remember what I was thinking. And that’s all! This page went together super quickly! Here are the steps I followed once I had my focus passage selected:

  1. Gather Supplies, embellish items as desired
  2. Paint the page!
  3. Highlight verse, arrange elements, add washi (don’t forget to add a tab!)
  4. Write journaling
  5. Date Stamp!

Let me know your process! I loved creating this fun page to remember that no matter what is coming up, I can trust God with my “impossible” realities. Thank you, friends!
