Sometimes things break around the house and I think, oh, I can fix that. Mostly this only applies to my ceramic cow collection. I’ve gotten really good at gluing a stray leg or horn back on. The “herd,” as I call them, is so fragile. Even with bubble wrap, sometimes a stray leg will pop off during a move.

One time I tried to fix an electronic thing, and it didn’t go very well. Apparently, I confused my history degree with a degree in engineering and thought I could you know, make the thing light up again. I could not. But the history degree is coming in handy here, because I’m telling you the story SO WELL and it happened in the past, so HISTORY!

I read a story in the news about how the dumber we are, the less dumb we think we actually are. Which totally makes sense, because I can’t be the only one who’s taken something apart and thought oh, easy, I’ll just fix this complicated item and it will be fine! What could go wrong? And then it’s not fine. Because we don’t know how the vacuum ACTUALLY works. Just that it’s supposed to.
Maybe you also tried that Pinterest recipe and those lentil walnut balls were the worst things you’ve ever tasted. You probably have a story here, where that DIY thing or the advice you were given just didn’t add up.

When I read that article, I thought, I’ll just admit I don’t know everything, because by default that means I’m smarter than if I think I actually know everything. I hope I’m still making sense! It says in Proverbs 3:5 to trust in the Lord and not depend on our own understanding. We don’t know everything!
How great it is that we have Someone to go to who can give us wisdom? Someone who can actually fix all the brokenness. Fix us, Jesus! It’s such a relief to not have to know it all, to say, I don’t know, but I can pray about it. I need Jesus’ wisdom!

I like to pray in the car on the way home from work. I tell Jesus what happened that day, I pray for my coworkers, and I pray for the next day, that Jesus would straighten our paths. Not that we have it easy, but we know with wisdom what path to take. As I get closer to home, I feel the stress of the day slowly leave me. Because I’m not holding the stress to myself thinking I have to handle it, I’m trusting the Lord. He’s got it covered.
Thanks for joining me here today, friends. I hope you all seek wisdom from Jesus so you know what paths to take. And just a reminder, you need to call a repair person for that broken thing. It’s worth it. Hugs, Cristin
